b&w photograph
Very good condition: thumbprint along right edge near lower right corner, black flecks throughout, and tape on top two corners of reverse.
Portrait of 26 boys and one priest in four rows (2 standing, 1 sitting on chairs, 1 sitting cross-legged on the floor). Front row: Hector Prudhomme, Austin Smith, ?, Parker Hickey, and Joe MacDonald. Second row: Basil Martin (far left), ?, ?, Brother Sterling (centre), ?, ?, and Ken Hayes. Third row: ?, ?, ?, Joe Moore, ?, Charlie Beazley, and ?. Back row: Erin Smith (third from left), the rest unknown. Identities confirmed by J. Mills in 2016. However, Moore, Handley, Donahoe, Conners [sic?], Whelan, and Beasley do not appear to be in the photo. Publication of the yearbook was suspended from 1914-1920 likely due to wartime and immediate post-war paper shortages: a patriotic gesture by the College (see pg. 13 and 93 in the 1921 Santamarian yearbook).
Written in pencil on reverse: 'St. Mary's College, 2nd Collegiate Class, 1915 1916' and '12.0'. Note from Art Gallery identifies the names 'Erin Smith, Martin Donahoe, Harry Handley, Austin Smith, John Moore, Morris 'Spud' Beasley, Frank Whelan, Brother Sterling, ? Conners, Parker Hickey, Joe MacDonald'. From Art Gallery.
